South Waterfront Studio Closure Letter

Dearest Community,

Nearly 3 years after expanding to Portland, and together building a community rooted in love, Parallel 45 will be transitioning away from the South Waterfront and passing the torch to YoYoYogi on April 1st. Despite every intention to sustain the Portland studio long-term, financial constraints created a different plan, as we were never able to break even.

That being said, handing this precious community over to a team of yogis I deeply respect, feels like a wish fulfilled. YoYoYogi, family-owned and loved since 2010, will be introducing many HOT and unique style classes led by their team of instructors. Parallel 45’s last class in the South Waterfront will be a free community class on Friday, March 28th.

I will be forever grateful for all of the love and care that our instructors have poured into the Portland community. Keep an eye out for them teaching virtually or subbing in Vancouver!

The Vancouver studio is thriving and I am excited to devote my and my family's energy into nurturing this community for the long haul. 8 years down, 100 years to go!

If you’d like to be added to the YoYoYogi mailing list to stay up-to-date on their plans at the South Waterfront, let me know and I will pass along your email to the owner, Kristi!

With a full heart of gratitude,

Riley, Alex & Lily

P.S. YoYoYogi will be honoring recent 5-class & 10-class packages that were purchased at the Portland studio (you’ll be receiving an email from us in the coming weeks on how to transfer it).

Studio FAQs

Where is the Zoom Link for livestream classes?

Search your inbox or spam folders for “Parallel 45 Zoom” as it is included in your purchase receipt. We use the same Zoom link/password for every livestream class so be sure to save!

Do I have to pre-register before every class?

Yes, pre-registration is required before every class (including your first class) to ensure you have a spot.

When is the studio open?

15 minutes before and 10 minutes after every class.

Are you a hot studio?

No, we consider ourselves to be a warm studio. Class temperatures range from 72-76 degrees. With the exception of a few hot style classes called Fire Flow heated to 80-85 degrees.

What classes would you recommend for beginners?

Gentle Yoga, Yin, Slow Flow and Mindful Vinyasa are all wonderful classes for beginner yogis! You can explore each class description by clicking the name of the class on the schedule.

What do I bring and what should I wear?

Bring your yoga mat (if you have one) and a water bottle. We do provide yoga mats along with blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters for free. Wear comfortable/stretchy clothing you can move in.

What time should I arrive?

We ask all students to arrive a minimum of 5 minutes before every class as late arrivals are distracting. Most teachers lock the door at the start of class.

Studio etiquette?

Store your shoes, personal belongings and cell phone (be sure to silence) in the cubbies. Avoid wearing perfumes and be mindful of personal hygiene / body odor.

Can I sign up a friend?

Unfortunately our scheduling software makes it tricky to sign up friends or family members. We ask that every new client creates their own account, signs the electronic waiver and registers for class.

Do you have an age limit?

We do not, we love little yogis! Yogis ages 13 and above can attend classes on their own. Yogis 12 and under will need to practice alongside their parent/guardian.

How do I cancel my membership?

The quickest way to cancel your membership is by emailing us below. Please notify us at least 1 week before your next auto-payment to cancel.
